Fáilte romhat go Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne, scoil Ghaeltachta in iarthar Chiarraí.

Go pearsanta, braithim gur mór an phribhléid dom é a bheith i mo phríomhoide ar an scoil seo ó mhí Mheán Fómhair 2018. Cé go mbíonn sé dúshlánach uaireanta, is ról é go bhfaighim ana-shásamh as. Thosaigh mé ag múineadh i Méanscoil na mBráithre Críostaí sa Daingean i mí Mheán Fómhair 2001 agus ón gcéad lá cuireadh ana-fháilte romham agus cuireadh ar mo shuaimhneas mé. Déanaimid tréaniarracht a chinntiú go mbraitheann ár ndaltaí ar a suaimhneas anseo gach lá.

Bunaíodh Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne in 2007 mar toradh ar chomhnascadh idir Meánscoil na mBráithre Críostaí agus Méanscoil na Toirbhirte, agus táimid ag dul ó neart go neart ó shin. Nuair a bhogamar go PCD ar dtús, ní raibh a fhios ag éinne againn cad a bheadh romhainn ach bhí na héinne ag obair as lámh a chéile agus is tapaidh a bhunaíomar féiniúlacht nua dár scoil. Ní fada ná go raibh barr feabhais á bhaint amach go hacadúil agus in iliomad réimsí seach-churaclaim, rud a neartaigh arís an spiorad agus an dáimh speisialta atá le braistint laistigh de phobal na scoile.

Is maith is eol dúinn go bhfuil spiorad láidir comhoibrithe sa scoil seo agus táimid ana-bhródúil as. Bíonn daltaí, tuismitheoirí, foireann na scoile agus an bord bainistíochta ar fad ag obair le chéile chun oideachas chomh hiomlán agus chomh sásúil agus is féidir a chruthú dár ndaltaí. Cothaíonn an spiorad sin atmaisféar ar leith ar scoil atá ana-dhearfach agus cuireann sé ar chumas na ndaltaí barr a maitheasa a bhaint amach, laistigh agus lasmuigh den seomra ranga. Ba mhaith liom spreagadh a thabhairt do gach tuismitheoir/caomhnóir a bheith rannpháirteach in oideachas bhur bpáistí. Tuigim go mbíonn saol ana-ghnóthach ag mórán agaibh, ach tá tairbhe mór le baint as am a thógaint sa tráthnóna chun labhairt le do leanbh faoin scoil, nó díreach le cinntiú go bhfuil do mhac/iníon eagraithe don lá dár gcionn.

Táimid ar ár ndícheall ag cinntiú go mbeidh fáil ag gach dalta ar réimse leathan ábhar acadúil, teicniúil, eolaíochta agus ealaíne. Táimid thar a bheith bródúil as ár ndaltaí, iad san atá linn i láthair na huaire agus ár n-iarscoláirí, go leor acu atá tar éis rudaí iontacha a bhaint amach ina saol. Is mór an t-iontas dom i gcónaí na buanna agus an meon atá acu agus is fiú go mór ár gcuid oibre mar mhúinteoirí nuair a fheicimid é sin.

Ar deireadh, ba mhaith liom béim a leagadh ar an bpointe go bhfuil folláine do linbh lárnach i ngach rud a dhéanaimid anseo i bPobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne. Má bhíonn aon imní ort mar gheall ar do leanbh, le do thoil, cuir ar an eolas sinn. Tá dea-theist ar an scoil seo ó thaobh aire a thabhairt dár ndaltaí agus freastal ar dhaltaí le gach saghas cumas agus réimse spéise, agus teastaíonn uainn leanúint ar aghaidh mar sin.

Táim mórálach as a bheith bainteach leis an scoil seo.

Welcome to Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne, a Gaeltacht school in West Kerry.

From a personal perspective, I feel privileged to have been entrusted with the role of principal in our school since September 2018. While it can be challenging it is an extremely rewarding role. I started teaching in Méanscoil na mBráithre Críostaí in Dingle in September 2001 and from day one I was made feel very welcome and I felt like I belonged. We strive to ensure that our students also feel like this on a daily basis.

Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne was founded in 2007, resulting from an amalgamation  between Meánscoil na mBráithre Chríostaí and Méanscoil na Toirbirthe, and we have been going from strength to strength since. When we moved to PCD initially we were all unsure about what to expect but with everyone working together we quickly established an identity for our new school. Academic excellence and extra curricular success in a wide variety of fields followed which helped to further develop the spirit and tighten the bond within the school community.

We are aware and extremely proud of the spirit of co-operation that exists in our school as students, parents, the school staff and the board of management all work together to provide as complete and as fulfilling an education and school experience for our students as possible. That spirit creates a unique and postive atmosphere in our school that empowers students to thrive, both inside and outside of the classroom. I would like to encourage each parent/guardian to remain involved in your child’s education. I realise that many of you lead hugely busy lives, but taking the time in the evening to talk with your child about school, or simply see that your son/daughter is organised for the next day can have huge benefits.

We strive to ensure that all students have access to a broad range of academic, technological, scientific and artistic subjects. We are immensely proud of our students, both current and past many of whom have gone on to achieve greatly in their lives. Their talents and personalities continue to amaze me and make our jobs as teachers so worthwhile.

Finally I would like to underline that your child’s personal wellbeing is central to everything we do in Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne. If you have any concerns about your child please notify us. Our school has a strong track record for care and for catering for students of all abilities with a myriad of interests, and we want to continue with this.

I am proud to be part of this school.
